Speech Trek is an annual speech contest that focuses the attention of high school students on a public policy topic. Students prepare and present a 5-6 minute speech. This year, the topic is about the effects that climate change have on women in the U.S. and globally. The contest begins at the local Fremont level (with prizes of 1st: $750, 2nd: $550, 3rd: $350) and the first place Fremont branch winner gets to compete at the State level (State prizes: 1st: $2500, 2nd: $2000, 3rd: $1000, 4th and 5th: $500).
The Annual Juried Photography Exhibit reception will be held on Mar 29, at 6pm at the Fremont Main Library. This event is free to the general public, and attendees can vote for their favorite photo for the ‘People’s Choice’ award. Photos will be on display at the library through Saturday, May 3.
Members of the public will submit up to three stories of fiction on the theme of "Love Makes The World Go 'round". The stories will be posted in Half-Price Books at the Fremont HUB and anyone who enters the store can read them and vote on the five stories they like the best.
