SUMMARY:TCNPC Monthly Meeting: April is ACCM
DESCRIPTION:April is Arts\, Culture\, and Creativity Month!\nWednesday\, January 11\, 2023 on Zoom \nArts\, Culture\, and Creativity Month is a month-long\, statewide effort organized by Californians for the Arts. The month includes many opportunities for local arts-based nonprofits to participate. Join us with Fremont’s program leaders to learn more about opportunities for your organization. \nIn 2019\, Californians for the Arts (CFTA) successfully campaigned for the state to recognize and celebrate the arts by declaring April as Arts\, Culture & Creativity Month (ACCM) through a concurrent resolution passed in the California Senate. In 2021\, an additional resolution was declared to recognize artists as second responders. \nCFTA directs this annual month-long spotlight on the arts to raise visibility and awareness about the value of the arts sector\, to empower arts advocates to take action\, and to spur greater investments in the arts industry and workforce. \nFremont Creates is Fremont’s month-long program under this umbrella in April 2023\, organized and led by a consortium of established Fremont arts associations. \nOur discussion will be led by Julie Gilson and Susan Longini\, who are leading a community team organizing Fremont’s efforts. \nRegister in advance for this free Zoom session. After registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

SUMMARY:The Untapped Potential of Young Voters
DESCRIPTION:Although youth voter turnout in 2020 was its highest (at 50%) in 100 years\, the potential of this key demographic has for the most part been untapped. A San Jose high school student\, Claire Zhu\, set out to determine what would happen if more youth voted. Join us in learning the results of her intriguing research study. With her will be Julie Dunkle\, league member\, and co-founder of the Youth Voter Movement (YVM). This student led organization has registered over 7000 new young voters and it serves as a model for communities far and wide. \nCome learn what the current research is telling us and how to get involved. We will also have an interactive session to share\, question and learn. Collaboratively\, we can fundamentally improve youth voter turnout to ensure our democracy is preserved and strengthened. \nEvent registration: \nhttps://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZYtdeGsrD0iGtxWOLxBnWZrfv-_-KuzTG0X \nOr go to the LWVFNUC website to register: https://my.lwv.org/california/fremont-newark-union-city
