SUMMARY:The Untapped Potential of Young Voters
DESCRIPTION:Although youth voter turnout in 2020 was its highest (at 50%) in 100 years\, the potential of this key demographic has for the most part been untapped. A San Jose high school student\, Claire Zhu\, set out to determine what would happen if more youth voted. Join us in learning the results of her intriguing research study. With her will be Julie Dunkle\, league member\, and co-founder of the Youth Voter Movement (YVM). This student led organization has registered over 7000 new young voters and it serves as a model for communities far and wide. \nCome learn what the current research is telling us and how to get involved. We will also have an interactive session to share\, question and learn. Collaboratively\, we can fundamentally improve youth voter turnout to ensure our democracy is preserved and strengthened. \nEvent registration: \nhttps://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZYtdeGsrD0iGtxWOLxBnWZrfv-_-KuzTG0X \nOr go to the LWVFNUC website to register: https://my.lwv.org/california/fremont-newark-union-city

SUMMARY:A Conversation with Alameda County Supervisor David Haubert
DESCRIPTION:If you are excited about the progress we’re making on Safe Parking\, the Housing Navigation Center\, the Mobile Hygiene Unit\, or any of the innovative programs in Fremont\, please join Fremont for Everyone for a conversation with Alameda County Supervisor David Haubert about the future of housing & homelessness on May 26\, 2021 at 6:30 PM. \nOn April 21st\, the Fremont for Everyone leadership team had an opportunity to meet with newly elected Alameda County Supervisor David Haubert. Because the County plays a significant role in providing (and funding) social services\, building strong relationships with our County Supervisor is crucial in advancing our mission of addressing homelessness and advocating for equitable housing solutions. \nThe Supervisor expressed his strong opinion that homelessness is a regional issue and Cities should not have to shoulder the financial burden alone. However\, what is required is a “synergistic relationship” with Cities\, which need to provide the regulatory approvals for the programs they wish the County to help fund. The relationship needs to reciprocal. \nAs community advocates\, we would love to hear your voice in how we can better partner with Alameda County in providing better solutions for our unhoused in Fremont and the Tri-City Area. \nPlease RSVP at https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/5016207497832/WN_ceDfBMuHSjmuZrheaAB9EA \nWe’ll have opportunities for audience Q&A\, and you can also send question ideas to Lisa Stambaugh at lisa@collectivediscovery.com
