SUMMARY:Las Posadas - Kristy Del Rio & Her Merry Band
DESCRIPTION:Las Posadas 2023\nCo-sponsored by Old Mission San Jose\, the Fremont Cultural Arts Council\, and the Mission San Jose Chamber of Commerce\nDecember 15 to 23\, 6:00 pm \nZoom: Out-of-area and home viewers can join us on December 17\, 18\, 19\, 21\, and 22 on Zoom. For free links to these programs send an email to LasPosadasFCAC@earthlink.net. \nFull details on the Historic Old Mission San Jose website \nFor 41 years\, Las Posadas has been a Christmas-time tradition at Mission San Jose. It reminds us of the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem and provides the local community music and geniality in the days leading up to Christmas. \nFor nine evenings\, starting on December 15th\, we meet on the porch of the Old Mission San Jose Museum and depart at 6:15pm to walk to a MSJ Chamber of Commerce local business or site within two blocks singing Christmas carols as we go. A family is selected to carry the hand-carved statue of Mary\, Joseph and Baby Jesus. Once we arrive\, we ask for room at the Inn. The host turns us away but eventually welcomes us in to take shelter. \nUnique entertainment lasting 30-45 minutes is arranged for each night by Fremont Cultural Arts Council\, and we conclude with refreshments provided by the host business. On the final night\, Mission San Jose invites everyone into the Old Mission Church to enjoy a program of Christmas carols performed live on our Rosales organ\, followed by a piñata on the Museum porch for the children. \nDecember 15 – Kristy Del Rio & her Merry Band\nKristy Del Rio & her Merry Band lead off Las Posadas with a heartfelt collection of Christmas songs and carols\nMission San Jose Church\n43266 Mission Blvd. \nDecember 16 – St. Joseph School Children’s Choir\nSt. Joseph School Children’s Choir will entertain us with delightful Christmas songs.\nSt. Joseph School\n43222 Mission Blvd. \nDecember 17 – Dixie by the Bay\nDixie by the Bay old-time Christmas jazz.
